About our Rubin Apples (Organic)

Organic eating apples - healthy snack for kids and grown ups. Both tart and sweet, a red, flavourful apple! Tip - try spreading on our pumpkin seed butter for a low-sugar, omega full filling snack, treat or breakfast.

Storage Tips:

  • Refrigeration: Apples should be stored in the refrigerator to keep them fresh for a longer period. Place them in the crisper drawer, away from other fruits and vegetables, as apples release ethylene gas that can cause nearby produce to ripen and spoil faster.
  • Ventilated Container: If you have a large quantity of apples, consider using a well-ventilated container or a perforated plastic bag to store them. This allows for better airflow, reducing the chance of moisture buildup that could lead to premature spoilage.
  • Freezing - you can freeze apple chunks, but they do lose their crunchy flavour. If frozen, they work well grated into porridge with cinnamon, or instead - chucked into a smoothie.

How to Eat/Cook:

  • As they are, rinsed and enjoyed
  • Grated into Salad: Add a refreshing twist to your salads by grating apples and tossing them in. Choose crisp and slightly tart apple varieties for a delightful contrast of flavors and textures. The grated apples complement a variety of salads, from leafy greens to coleslaw, providing a hint of sweetness and crunch. They're also wonderful with kohlrabi to make a slaw.
  • Apple and Cinnamon Porridge: Start your day with a comforting bowl of apple and cinnamon porridge. Take either diced or grated apple (can be frozen), then cook it with your oats in milk (or water) on the stovetop. As the oats and apples soften, add a pinch of ground cinnamon for a warm and fragrant flavor. Top it off with a drizzle of honey or maple syrup, and you'll have a hearty and nutritious breakfast that's perfect for chilly mornings.
