We’re looking for a new member of the Plentiful Wholefoods team!
We need someone who’s happy mucking in, loves chatting with our customers, and can sell based on a genuine passion for great food and ethical, eco-friendly products. You’ll be a quick learner with heaps of drive and confidence, able to use your own initiative, spot what needs doing, and help us increase sales and keep the shop looking its absolute best.
Retail or plenty of customer-facing experience is important, but just as important is being a real people person who enjoys getting stuck in.
It’s all-go at Plentiful. You might be checking the quality of the fruit and veg one minute, decanting 5 litres of washing-up liquid the next, then stocking up bags of Plentiful chocolate buttons. This is anything but a till job.
There’s always something that needs doing, so we need someone who can prioritise, maintain high standards of presentation and freshness, work accurately and efficiently, and happily be on their feet all day.
Most importantly, we pride ourselves on amazing customer service. Our ethos, knowledge and personalities are what separate us from the supermarkets. We work hard, we care about what we sell, and that shows in the brilliant community of customers who have made us one of the most loved shops in the area.
Working at Plentiful means being part of a growing independent ethical business that wants to bring shopping back to how we think it should be.
We buy from other independent and ethical businesses wherever we can. We prioritise organic, local, vegan and sustainably grown or made products, and we try to circulate as much money as possible within the ethical economy and the things we believe in.
Every pound that goes through our till is a pound not spent in a supermarket or on Amazon. Instead, it supports independent businesses and real people making a living doing something they’re passionate about. That’s what motivates us.
We’re a friendly bunch and work hard to create a warm, fun environment for both our team and our customers. We work hard, we muck in, and we work together.
Our core working hours are 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm Sunday.
You must be available to work across at least 6 days of the week. This is not a Monday to Friday role and regular weekend working is an essential part of the position.
We share weekends fairly across the team. Typically, you’ll work a minimum of four weekend days per month, and we aim to give everyone at least one full weekend off each month, often a little more.
This role also includes lone working, so you’ll need to be comfortable and confident running the shop independently.
There are often opportunities for additional shifts to cover holidays, sickness and busy periods, particularly in December. Picking up additional shifts isn’t essential, but we work as a team to cover one another where we can. It’s a big part of how we’re able to accommodate everyone’s holidays and time-off requests fairly.
It would be a bonus if you have experience or knowledge in any of the following:
